The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

I was tagged absolutley ages ago by Erinn from Erinn's Beauty Blog and as I have been incredibly busy (REVISION TIME - exams start 20th May!) I haven't got round to this until now. Yes, 2 months late...
Rules :
  • State that this tag was created by The Beau Bow
  • Tag some more beauty bloggers
  • Title this as I've done to show what the tag is about.
Also, I thought this post looked a little bare without a photo so here's my bedroom wall decorated with a collection of ads and shoots mainly from Vogue.
Does anyone else get irritated by tag rules - I've missed out the blindingly obvious ones, so don't kill me. Anyway, down to business!
1) Name a beauty routine you barely do.
Exfoliating. I do it when it needs to be done but in the winter I swear I'm really lazy about it.

2) Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
I usually wash my Beauty Blender every other week but everything out every month or so because I don't use many other brushes on a regular basis.

3) How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
Not long! I do my nails before bed so I keep my hands pretty up to date but my toenails usually get really chipped in the Winter because I don't have them on show much.

4) How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it (ie. top coat, foundation etc.)?
I have a really big collection of nail polish so I could put that off for a while but in terms of foundation, I couldn't go a day without it so I always have a spare on standby if I run out.

5) What is your worst beauty habit?
I don't think I use good enough skincare. I have a daily routine which I like but it very much a set of high street brands but as a teenager I suppose I can get by in my youth!

6) Name something non beauty related that you put off doing all the time.
Revision. When I get down to it, it gets done but I always procrastinate before doing it and especially at the moment with end of year exams, I find it really hard to know how long to work for and get really distracted in my breaks. Twitter does not help in the slightest.

7) When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?
If I'm going somewhere fancy or a night out I will plan exactly what I'm going to wear way in advance so I'm prepared but because I have curly hair that does not bode well under a hairdryer I have to plan when I wash it for how its going to dry. If I leave it to dry naturally it is slightly too curly for my liking so I usually fishtail it before bed so I have to get ready in that sense really early. I generally spend the most amount of time on my makeup which I do a few hours before I go out and then top up.

8) Can you commit to spending bans?
To be honest I don't really feel I need them, I shop when I need things and if I don't have the money then I save up! My money is generally spent on clothes and make up so I'll blow it all in one go on a big shopping spree rather than constant little temptations which would require a ban.

9) How organised is your makeup and nail polish collections?
My make up is shocking. I have a low vanity table and all the bottles and upright tubes are together then my brushes are in a Bobbi Brown case and my daily makeup is kept in my Ted Baker bag. I have a clear box with makeup I use less often and a stuffed to the brim pencil case with all my lipglosses in (I have a weakness for them and my friends reinforce this by buying me them.)

10) What is the longest time you've gone without writing a blog post?
This is bad but probably about a month! I generally try to get about a post a week out but I am so busy with school work and sports that sometimes I just don't have the time and I think people forget how much work goes into posts what with the writing and photos which need editing! This summer I am going to be a much more dedicated blogger, I promise.

Shine On Award

The other day, my lovely friend Tolly Dolly Posh (whose blog is amazing, check it out) nominated me for the Shine On Award which is similar to other tags I've done but basically a simple Q & A. Let the jollity begin!

 Blusher or Bronzer?
I'm more of a bronzer lover at the moment. Now, don't mistake that for assuming I go everywhere orange, I really don't, but I much more prefer being a darker shade of mmy skin tone on my cheekbones with bronzer than the more peachy tones which most blushes have. The bronzer I am currently using is the Collection 2000 Shimmering glow in 5 'Sunkissed'.

Honey or Chocolate?
Chocolate all the way! I do love proper comb honey; my mum and I actually have three beehives, but just plain chocolate without all the extra ingredients in the bars, is delicious. Milk or dark, cooking chocolate is beautiful anytime, anywhere.

David Beckham or Josh Hutcherson?
Josh Hutcherson of course! David Beckham is good looking but I really don't like how many tattoos he has, and being married isn't the ideal candidate. Josh Hutcherson is gorgeous, only 5 years older than me and Katniss, good choice, girl! Though in the books I wanted her to pick Gale...

Vivienne Westwood or Coco Chanel?
A hard one! In terms of their fashion houses, probably Chanel; her elegance and style is still being reflected by Lagerfeld and her jackets will live on for eternity. However, I do admire Dame Viv and how she has influenced the fashion world, not many could make hundreds wear bin bags with safety pins in and get away with it in the name of fashion!

Fish fingers or Sushi?
Neither! I'm not too keen on fish, though cod and salmon I can deal with, and am a bit funny with my textures when it comes to food, with anything slimy being out so, sorry Japan, but its a no to the sushi from me. Fish fingers and also, scampi, now I come to think about it, just bring back memories of cold, pappy meals at days out so they wouldn't be top of my favourite foods list.

Name a film that makes you cry?
Just one?! I have a top three film list and they all make me weep because I think for a film to make that much of an impact on you, you have to cry. 1) Titanic (all time favourite) 2. My Sister's Keeper. 3) Armageddon. Unlikely, I know, but at the end when Liv Tyler doesn't know whether her dad or her fiancee will make it back, oh, makes me sob every time.

Would you climb a mountain or shave your hair off for charity?
I suppose as a beauty and fashion blogger, I'm allowed to come across as vain in this instance, but I could never cut of all my hair, I love it too much! Although it springs up a bit when its curly, when it is wet or straightened it reaches my hips and the bottom of my back, so cutting it off would kill me! Also, I think doing sometime more physical would make me appreciate what I was achieving for charity so much more.

If you had to wear one item or clothing for a whole year what would it be and why?
Thinking practically here, if I wanted to keep some dignity for a year, I would have to be able to play around with the look so I think I would pick a beautiful fitted dress that would be designer, because if you're wearing it for a year, one splurge doesn't matter. This way I could dress it up and down and I could wear it in Winter or Summer. Good thinking, Lucy.

If you had to go and live with one fashion designer who would it be and why?
Probably Karl Lagerfeld because of the amazing influence he has in the industry and his dedication to Chanel and his own line. Also, to hear his opinions on everyone, which he so often gets slated for would be incredible to hear first hand!

What would you make if you were given : a plastic bag, a pair of curtains, a sofa cover, a pair of scissors and tape?
One extremely ugly and dysfunctional life support machine...

The Versatile Blogger Award!

Happy New Year! My first post for 2013 is the *mini drumroll* Versatile Blogger Award which I was nominated for by the girls of Sparkly Blues and Rainbow Shoes who are the duo Louise and Erin who started blogging in November and have a giveaway running at the moment with some gorgeous sparkly shoes in so go check them out!

The Versatile Blogger Award is for fairly new bloggers...(I've tried to nominate bloggers who have been blogging for under a year)
1) Nominate 15 other new bloggers
2) Let them know you have nominated them
3) Share 7 random facts about yourself
4) Thank the blogger who has nominated you
5) Add the Versatile Blogger Award to your post

So my 7 random facts should help you learn a little more about me and I'll try to make them as random as I can...enjoy!

1) I always pull this one out when someone brings out the random/interesting-fact-about-you thing and that is that I had a very serious problem with my spine called scoliosis, which is a curved spine. I was first diagnosed at 10 or 11 and at its worst my spine was curved 60 degrees. Imagine a healthy straight spine being 0 and then 90 being a right angle and you'll get the picture on how bad it was. I overcompensated with my hips though so I didn't look as deformed as you imagine but I was put into a thick, plastic back brace for two years which went from my hips to stomach and all my back to my neck which had three straps at the back like an old fashioned corset. I now have one of the straightest spines anywhere after an operation in the summer of 2011 and have two 23cm metal rods nailed into my spine which gets people very excited at airport security!

2) I have had dinner with JLS! It was on January 19th last year so when that date comes around I will do a post to tell you about it as my blog was non-existent then! They had just come off the One Show and me and five friends spent a few hours having dinner with them in a private room in Pizza Express in London.

3) I made Page 3 (NOT HOW YOU THINK!) at birth! No I wasn't a model but my birth made papers all over the country because my mum is a very high up business women, who was in the middle of running a multi-billion pound merger in labour and only spent 2 hours in the hospital before giving birth! Everyone was extremely proud and we have loads of papers in the attic of me as a Scottish newborn. I was born in Paisley Hospital, Scotland and lived in Kilmacolm for 18 months before moving down to the South East with my British parents so I'm not really Scottish and have no accent.

4) I love designer handbags and my school bag is a velvet Juicy Couture bag which just about manages to squeeze in the books need for a few lessons at a time! My previous baby was a lovely Lulu Guiness bag which was huge and had eyelashes on. The bag I took on holiday was a metallic DKNY bag which was a birthday present!

5) I'm not a natural blonde : I know, shocking. Until a few years ago I was a lovely blonde but as with all child blondes, the brown came through and turned it all dark so now I have it dyed every couple of months to keep my golden curls. I also use John Freidas's 'Sheer Blonde' lightening shampoo.

6) I play for the lacrosse team, girls play it in the UK, guys play it in the US, and although it may seem like a posh games for all girls schools its actually so good for fitness and very violent. I play defense, in Point or Cover Point, by the goal. I am not looking forward to the freezing January Saturday mornings when I will have to run around the pitches with my lacrosse stick.

7) I am a die hard BlackBerry fan. My sister has just got an iPhone for Christmas but I have to stick with my BB and now have the Bold 9900 in White from the old Curve 8520 in Black - loads of my friends are on BBM and the recent updates keep you in the loop for everything!

So there you go, some more knowledge on me and what my life is like!
My nominations are : (names are all linked to their blogs)

Check them out, they all have great blogs!

The Liebster Award!

I have read a few posts from others who have done this and I've now been nominated by Enhance Your Natural Beauty For Less for this award! It mainly features around 11s and the rules are as follows :
1)  Thank the person who nominated you and link them in your post.
2) Then you answer the 11 questions asked about you from your nominator.
3) Nominate 11 inspirational bloggers with under 200 followers and link them in your post.
4) Create 11 questions for your nominees.
5) Go to their pages and tell them!
6) No tag backs.

So here goes!
I was asked :

1) Why did you start blogging?
Well, I had and still have a huge interest in fashion and I really wanted to share it with someone and I love writing but here I get to bring my thoughts and experiences to other bloggers and people who share my interests.

2) What is your Autumn/Winter favourite accessory?
A hat definitely! Apparently I have a great head shape for them but I find anything that is too shaped just won't fit because I have a big head and a lot of curly hair so I tend to go for beanies or woolly hats especially as my birthday is in November so its a great present for me!

3)What is your favourite Starbucks drink?
The hot chocolate with syrup, whipped cream and marshmallows! I'm not a great coffee lover and this just warms me up with a great energy boost for carrying on usually shopping as my fave Starbucks is in Brent Cross shopping centre, London!

4) What is your favourite candle scent?
I honestly do not have one! I hardly ever burn scented candles but I do have a few around which seem to just be decoration, thinking about it!

5) What is your favourite type of flowers to receive?
Roses are my favourite flowers because they always look and smell so good!

6) Do you have any pets, if so what kind?
My two rabbits Blossom and Tigerlily recently decided that hutch life wasn't  for them so they are sadly living  a life in the woods or with a nice fox...however I have a lovely golden retriever called Toby and my long standing guinea pig, Rocky named for his spiky mohican!

7) Was is your must have beauty product?
Obviously mascara and foundation are the must have basics for anyone but one of beauty trade marks is the big black eye and eyeliner is my favourite product but after using liquid for a few weeks I'm back on the khol which I love!

8) What is your favourite food?
Although going out for meals is great and I do really enjoy good quality food, I much prefer lighter food and I've got to say that a great chicken sandwich with fresh bread and salad cream will win out every time at home!

9) Do you prefer drugstore or high end skincare products?
I've got to say drugstore as by buying cheaper lets you work out what is actually good and explore different brands at that price rather than have a few stick-to products which will cost that much more. My favourite brand for skincare in Simple which is cheap but really freshens my skin and really cleanses my face.

10) What is your dream job?
For a few years now I have wanted to work in fashion magazines, whether it be journalism or another aspect of that industry so the absolute dream job would have to be to work at Vogue!

11) What is your favourite holiday?
So finally, I love a good beach holiday but its a toss-up between Le Tousserok in Mauritius where I have been twice and enjoyed every moment of or Mark Warner holidays where I always meet great new people and have a really fun time with other people my age away from family!

My nominees are as follows : I have linked them all!

So here are my questions for you :
1) Why did you start blogging?
2) What is your favourite shampoo and conditioner?
3) What is your one make up essential?
4) What is your favourite nail polish colour for Winter?
5) Your middle name?
6) What is your ideal holiday location?
7) What is your favourite shoe store/brand?
8) How do you prefer to wear your hair?
9) Your favourite make up brand?
10) What is your one hope for a Christmas present this year?
11) What is your dream job and why?

Enjoy! xxx

£50 For Autumn Tag

I came across the '£50 For Autumn Tag' on Whirly Bob and she tagged me to do one for myself! So, the rules are that you create an outfit, accessories and all, for Autumn. I am aware that most people would assume this means a lovely layered outfit with a big coat and preparations for Winter but I always see Autumn as the beginning of the party season because for some reason all my friends birthdays are in this season and there is something about going out all dressed up in the cold which you don't get in the Summer. Here is an outfit which I love and I think I will buy this skirt as I've wanted a dip hem for ages and I feel I have enough bright vest tops to pair with it. I love the bling on the cuff and shoes and am very proud that I managed to pull this together for 50 quid!
